Why do you draw in graphite?
I love drawing in graphite. I believe that graphite pencils produce drawings that have a unique, timeless quality. There are currently many incredible artists that work in colour, but far fewer that specialise in graphite. I have therefore chosen to carve out a niche producing highly detailed drawings in graphite.
Do you also draw in colour?
No. I currently only draw in graphite.
Are you a full-time artist?
No. I have a full-time job and produce my artwork in the evenings and at weekends.
Do you work from life or photographs?
My drawings take many hours to produce so I work from photographs. For pet portraits, I am happy to advise on a suitable photograph or, if you are local, arrange a photo shoot to take some photographs myself where appropriate. For wildlife commissions, I work from my own images where I have a suitable photograph but, where I don’t, I source images with the rights to use them commercially.
How long do your drawings take to produce?
It depends on the size of the drawing. As an example, a typical A4 sized, head and shoulders pet portrait will take anything from 18 to 24 hours to produce.
How soon can you produce a drawing for me?
This depends on how many commissions I have on the books already and what size image you require. If you require your drawing by a specific date, please indicate this when getting in touch and I will let you know whether I can meet your deadline or not.
