The photographs in this gallery were all taken on the Farne Islands off the coast of Northumberland. The Farne Islands are owned and managed by the National Trust and are designated as a National Nature Reserve (NNR) and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). They are home to an internationally significant breeding colony of seabirds and Atlantic grey seals.
The images show some of the amazing seabirds that call the islands home in the summer months; Arctic Terns, Razorbills, Guillemots, Kittiwakes and Puffins. Last summer there was also one solitary Gannet. This individual had black eyes, indicating that it had survived infection by High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza.
